The City of Iqaluit is pleased to announce the return of the annual Residential Large Item Pick-up Program. From September 8 to 12, 2025, residents can take advantage of this opportunity to dispose of approved large household items at no cost.

The City of Iqaluit would like to remind residents that students are returning to school in Iqaluit September 2nd 2025, please drive with caution, especially around school buses and in the areas of the schools.

Be alert and mindful during dim mornings and dark afternoons, it can be difficult to see pedestrians.

Remember it is illegal to pass a school bus when its red lights are flashing and stop sign activated.

Tundra Tidy Up – Program Extended for Residents

The City of Iqaluit is pleased to announce that the Tundra Tidy Up clean up photo contest for residents has been extended until Friday, September 26. This extension is made possible through the support of the Government of Nunavut’s Division of Environmental Protection.

Facility Update: End of Turf Season and Ice Installation
August 15, 2025 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that the last day for turf use at the Arctic Winter Games Arena will be Sunday, August 24, 2025.

Following this date, the facility will be closed to allow for turf removal and ice installation. The ice surface is expected to be ready by September 19, ahead of the Arctic Winter Games selection camps taking place that weekend.
