Canada Day Thank You!
July 3, 2026 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

 

The City of Iqaluit would like to thank everyone who came out to take part in this year’s Canada Day celebrations.

The good weather helped bring many residents and families together throughout the day. After the parade, celebrations continued at the Nakasuk School grounds, where residents gathered for the barbecue, music from a DJ, face painting, a bouncy castle, and other family activities.

Emergency Vehicle Training

July 3, 2026 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

 

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that the Iqaluit Fire Department will be conducting emergency vehicle driver training on Tuesday, July 7, from 7:00PM to 9:00PM in the West 40 area.

During this training, emergency vehicle lights and sirens may be used in parking lots in the area. This will be for training purposes only, and residents should not be alarmed.

Community Cleanup 2026: The Garbage Lost

June 26, 2026 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

 

The City of Iqaluit would like to thank everyone who participated in the 2026 Community Clean Up on Friday, June 19.

Together, residents, businesses, organizations, and volunteers collected approximately 1500 bags of garbage from across the city. The streets, parks, pathways, and shorelines are all looking noticeably better, and significantly less crunchy.

Road Closure Extension – Fred Coman Street

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that the road closure on Fred Coman Street, currently in place to allow for essential upgrades to the water and sewer infrastructure, has been extended.

The closure is now expected to remain in effect until Wednesday May 27, 2026.
