As the summer comes to an end, the colder dark months approach, the City of Iqaluit Municipal Enforcement Department would like to remind motorists that headlights and taillights must be turned on during hours of darkness or inclement weather.

An increase in motorists have been observed driving at night with only their lower lit, daytime running lights activated and no tail lights.

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of a road closure planned from September 27th to October 9th on Sivumugiaq Street (formerly known as Federal Road).

While Sivumugiaq Street will be closed near the intersection with Ungalliqpaat Crescent, local traffic can still access the area through a detour.

This is to allow upgrades to the water distribution system. The site layout and traffic control plans are shown below.

The citywide water interruption on has now been resolved. There may be some temporary discolouration of the tap water.

The City of Iqaluit is under a precautionary boil water advisory for all customers.

When water pressure drops, the Chief Public Health Officer of Nunavut automatically issues a precautionary boil water advisory. If this water interruption affects your residence, you are under a precautionary boil water advisory.
