Aquatic Centre and Fitness Facility Reopening 
August 11, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City would like to advise residents that the Fitness Facility is now open again for residents to use.

The Aquatic Centre will re-open tomorrow, Saturday August 12th, 2023 for both public and family swims, in the leisure pool. The lap pool and sauna will remain closed and all adult lane swims are cancelled until Monday, August 14th, 2023.

The City thanks its residents for their cooperation during this emergency closure.

Aquatic Centre and Fitness Facility Emergency Closure 
August 10, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City would like to notify residents that the Aquatic Centre and Fitness facility are closed, effective immediately, until further notice due to a water-pipe break on site.

An update will be provided to residents once the issue has been resolved, and the site is re-opened to the public.

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents of a planned closure of the Aquatic Center Parking lot. The closure is scheduled for Friday August 11, 2023 to allow roadwork and drainage improvement to be performed.

The City of Iqaluit Municipal Enforcement department in partnership with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) conducted random sobriety and road safety check stops throughout the City of Iqaluit on the August civic long weekend.

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of a road closure planned for August 7, next to the softball field. This closure is to allow for a softball tournament.

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that there is a planned satellite outage starting at midnight on Friday August 4. It is planned to last for approximately five hours.

During the outage, cellphones and internet will not be available. If you need to contact Emergency Services during that time, please use a landline.
