On April 28th, The City of Iqaluit will be lowering our flags to half-mast, in observation of the National Day of Mourning.
The National Day of Mourning has been marked annually since 1991. This day is dedicated to remembering those who have lost their lives, suffered injury or illness on the job, or experienced a workplace tragedy.

The City of Iqaluit will be hosting the annual Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Day and paint exchange on Saturday April 27, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Air Base (Building 621). This event provides residents an opportunity to safely dispose of their
Household Hazardous Waste, as well as an opportunity for residents to swap paint canisters.

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that there are four position openings to serve as Member-at-Large on Community Economic Development Committee.
All interested individuals must be in good financial standing with the City (no more than $500.00 in arrears).
There is a $250.00 indemnity paid via direct deposit for each meeting attended.

Toonik Tyme Civic Holiday Road Safety Program

The City of Iqaluit Municipal Enforcement department, in partnership with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), conducted random sobriety and road safety checkstops and vehicle stops throughout the City of Iqaluit on the April 5th and 6th, over the Toonik Tyme long weekend.
Approximately 200 vehicles were checked throughout the operation with the below results

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents of multiple complete road closures (map below) Kuugalaaq St (Between Nipisa Street and Queen Elizabeth Way). These closures are necessary to ensure the safety of residents during the filming of scenes for the “North of North”.
The closure will be in effect from Thursday, April 18 from 7:00AM to 10:00PM.
