The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of scheduled washroom renovations in the lobby of the Arnaitok Arena.

To facilitate this work, the lobby will be closed to the public from June 26, 2024, to July 24, 2024. During this period, an alternate entrance will be available for use.

The City of Iqaluit, in collaboration with the Government of Nunavut Environment, the Government of Nunavut Economic Development and Transportation, the World Wildlife Foundation, and Pinnguaq Association, extends heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers who participated in this year’s community cleanup. Thanks to your dedication, we distributed over 1300 bags of garbage for collection, making our community noticeably cleaner and more beautiful.

D-Day marks a pivotal moment in World War II, representing the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought for freedom and peace. As a mark of respect and remembrance, all flags will be lowered to half-mast for the day.

Iqaluit City Council is calling on the Government of Nunavut’s Department of Justice to provide direction to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to address the growing issue of public intoxication in our city. Public intoxication has increasingly become a concern for the safety and well-being of all residents, and immediate action is necessary to mitigate this issue.
