Live fire training – Saturday April 27, 2024 – 1:00PM to 4:30PM

The City of Iqaluit wishes to inform residents that the Iqaluit Fire Department will conduct its annual live fire training on Saturday, April 27th, from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

 

This training session is a vital opportunity for all members of the Iqaluit Fire Department to hone their skills and techniques in serving our community effectively.

City Services Remain Open

1:00 PM - The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents to use extreme caution when driving, due to poor visibility in certain areas of town. The roads remain passable with very little snow build up. 

 

At this time, the City of Iqaluit services remain open.

Spring Time Animal Reminder

With spring here and the snow melting rapidly, the City of Iqaluit would like to remind residents of their responsibilities under By-Law 924, the Domesticated Animal By-Law.

Residents are required by the By-Law to clean up their dog’s feces, whether it is located on their own property or elsewhere. While walking a dog, you are required to carry something capable of collecting your dog’s feces (i.e. pet waste bags).

With spring weather conditions upon us, the City of Iqaluit would like to remind residents of some of the dangers melting conditions can cause, especially for the younger members of our community.

Ditches that were covered with snow –and safe to walk over just a few days ago- can now be hollow underneath due to flowing melt water. For an adult, getting stuck waist deep in a ditch is an annoyance. For small children, it can be quite dangerous.

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents of a partial road closure in front of building 136 on Nipisa Street (map attached).

The closure will going into effect Monday, April 22, 2024 and is expected to remain in effect until Monday, April 22, 2024.

Residents along this road will still be able to access their homes.

The city of apologizes for any inconvenience and thanks you for your understanding.
