The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that the Fire Department will be conducting an open burn at the firefighting training ground in the West 40 area on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Residents in the area can expect to see smoke during this time.

Youth Bike Safety Event

The City of Iqaluit Municipal Enforcement department, in partnership with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), hosted a bike safety event for the Kindergarten and Grade 1 students of Nakasuk School on June 10, 2024.
With more than 150 students participating, officers provided essential training on how to stop, follow hand signals, and other basic bike safety skills.

Iqaluit City Council is calling on the Government of Nunavut’s Department of Justice to provide direction to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to address the growing issue of public intoxication in our city. Public intoxication has increasingly become a concern for the safety and well-being of all residents, and immediate action is necessary to mitigate this issue.

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents of a complete road closures (map below) affecting William Mackenzie Lane (Apex). This closure is necessary to ensure the safety of residents during the filming of scenes for the “North of North”.
There will be intermitted closure in effect from Saturday, June 1 at 7:00AM to Wednesday, June 5 at 10:00PM
