The City of Iqaluit would like to remind all residents and businesses of the importance of covering their loads when transporting waste to the landfill. As stated in the City of Iqaluit’s Traffic Safety By-law #943, it is mandatory to cover all loads to prevent litter and ensure safety.

The City of Iqaluit would like to remind residents of the Household Hazardous Waste drop off point open Saturday June 29, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Elders Qammaq. This event provides residents an opportunity to safely dispose of their Household Hazardous Waste.

Canadian Coast Guard Icebreaking Operations – June 28 and July 2, 2024
June 24, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that the Canadian Coast Guard Ship (CCGS) Amundsen will be conducting icebreaking operations in or around Iqaluit on June 28, 2024. This operation is to assist with Woodward’s annual resupply. Following this, the CCGS Amundsen will escort M/V Kitikmeot W into Iqaluit on July 2, 2024, until ice conditions permit the vessel to proceed alone.

Washroom Renovations at Arnaitok Arena Lobby

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of scheduled washroom renovations in the lobby of the Arnaitok Arena.

To facilitate this work, the lobby will be closed to the public from June 26, 2024, to July 24, 2024. During this period, an alternate entrance will be available for use.

Community Cleanup Thank You!

The City of Iqaluit, in collaboration with the Government of Nunavut Environment, the Government of Nunavut Economic Development and Transportation, the World Wildlife Foundation, and Pinnguaq Association, extends heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers who participated in this year’s community cleanup. Thanks to your dedication, we distributed over 1300 bags of garbage for collection, making our community noticeably cleaner and more beautiful.

The City is pleased to announce that the annual residential large item pick-up program will take place from June 24 to June 29, 2024. This is an opportunity for residents to discard difficult to remove items without a fee with the help of Public Works.
