2025 Business License Renewals
November 14, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut
The City of Iqaluit would like to remind all business owners that the online portal for 2025 business license renewals is now open.
Business owners are encouraged to submit their renewal applications through the Iqaluit Business License system by January 31, 2025, to take advantage of a discounted renewal fee. Applications submitted after February 1, 2025, will be subject to the full renewal fee.
As per the City of Iqaluit Business Licensing By-Law No. 859, all businesses must have their 2025 license by February 15, 2025, to avoid fines. Renewal applications received after this date will also incur a $50.00 administrative fee in addition to the regular renewal fee.
Important Update:
Effective October 1, 2024, businesses applying for a municipal business license are no longer required to submit a Certificate of Compliance from the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC). Instead, applicants must submit a self-attested Certificate of Compliance form, confirming that:
• All assessments due under the Workers' Compensation Act (WCA) have been paid, or
• No assessments are required under the WCA.
The self-attested Certificate of Compliance form can be found on the Government of Nunavut's website under the Business and Entrepreneurship section. Alternatively, businesses can email the Economic Development Officer (EDO) at g.byrne@iqaluit.ca to request a copy of the form.
To submit your renewal application, visit the online portal at https://business.city.iqaluit.nu.ca/ and complete the renewal.
