Road Closure Notice
Access to Nunavut Drive from Niaqungusiariaq/Road to Apex will be closed starting Monday, June 8th at 8:00am to Tuesday June 9th at 5:00pm to make repairs to our water and sewer infrastructure. Buildings will still be accessible from Federal Road. The city of apologizes for any inconvenience and thanks you for your understanding.

Our City staff expresses solidarity with everyone committed to identifying how we can make positive change for the Black, Indigenous, and other marginalised communities.
We have a strong and supportive community here in Iqaluit, but we must continue to listen and learn about racism, speak up, and take action for change.

June 2, 2020 (Iqaluit, Nunavut) – Mayor Bell joins the call for police body cameras.
I am joining Pond Inlet MLA David Qamaniq, Nunavut Senator Patterson and MP Mumilaaq Qaqqaq in the call for police body cameras here in Iqaluit and throughout Nunavut.
It is about the safety of everyone involved and with this addition to the uniform; we will help protect the service members and citizens at the same time.

Today Mayor Bell announces that he is starting a Mayor’s Task Force on affordable housing with founding members Deputy Mayor Brewster, MLA Adam Arreak Lightstone and Laurel McCorriston the Executive Director of Uquutaq Society. The Task Force is seeking interested members from the Government of Canada, CHMC, Government of Nunavut, Nunavut Housing, Iqaluit housing Authority, NTI, QIA and other interested community members in the coming weeks.
