The City of Iqaluit continues to work closely with the Government of Nunavut’s Department of Health to monitor and respond as needed to the COVID-19 situation. This Wednesday, December 2nd, the restrictions set by the Department of Health will begin to ease for Iqaluit.

Road Closure in Core Area
December 1, 2020 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

 

Residents are advised of a road closure in the Core Area to allow for a repair on our water infrastructure on Thursday, December 3rd to Thursday December 10th, 2020.

 

The location is in front of building number 782 on Fred Coman Street (see attached map).

 

A detour will take place through Natsiq Street. Signage will be installed to direct traffic.

Residents are advised of roadwork on Queen Elizabeth Way, between Kuugalaaq Street and Nipisia Street, to allow for the replacement of a water main. This work will take place from Thursday, December 3, 2020 to Tuesday, February 9, 2021.

 

This is the road in front of Ventures Co-op between CBC building and DJ’s.

City Council Approves 2021 Budget
November 25, 2020 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

 

Iqaluit City Council approved the 2021 Budget at a Council meeting on November 24th, 2020.

Councillor Sheppard, chair of the Finance Committee of Whole stated, “The 2021 Budget will help the city strengthening its internal systems to be able to provide high-quality services for residents and improve staff workspaces to ensure our workforce can work in a healthy environment with the tools they need.”
