Canada Day Thank You!
July 3, 2026 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to thank everyone who came out to take part in this year’s Canada Day celebrations.

The good weather helped bring many residents and families together throughout the day. After the parade, celebrations continued at the Nakasuk School grounds, where residents gathered for the barbecue, music from a DJ, face painting, a bouncy castle, and other family activities.

The City would also like to thank the staff, volunteers, organizations, and community groups who helped make the events possible. More than 30 staff and volunteers supported the day, and the parade included more than 30 vehicles from 19 different organizations and community groups.

As part of the activities at the Nakasuk School grounds, the City provided 600 hotdogs, 400 hamburgers, and 400 cupcakes. The City was also pleased to partner with the Qajuqturvik Community Food Centre, which served 556 plates of sausage and pancake breakfast to community members earlier in the day.

Approximately 30 children also took part in the bike decorating contest, adding colour and energy to the celebrations.

The City appreciates everyone who attended, helped, volunteered, took part in the parade, shared food, or joined in the activities. Community events depend on many people working together, and the City recognizes the time and effort of our volunteers, staff and community members who came out to make the day that much better.

The City also welcomes feedback from residents and will use it to help plan future community events.
