Annual Pool Closure for Maintenance

The City would like to advise residents that the Iqaluit Aquatic Centre will have annual maintenance taking place from July 22, 2023 to August 4, 2023.

As a result of this maintenance, there will be facility closures:

• The pool area will be closed from July 22nd to August 4th.

• The fitness area will be closed from July 29th to August 4th.

Canada Day Checkstop Program
July 6, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit Municipal Enforcement Department conducted random sobriety and road safety checkstops throughout the City of Iqaluit on Canada Day July 1st 2023.

Approximately 150 vehicles were checked throughout the operation. Municipal Enforcement is pleased to report that no drivers were suspected of operating a motor vehicle while being impaired by drugs or alcohol.

Arnaitok Arena Access
July 6, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit wants to remind user groups that while we are installing the accessibility ramp at the Arnaitok Arena Parking Lot, access to the Arnaitok Arena is found in the back parking lot of the Aquatic Centre.

Road Closure – Palaugaa Drive
July 5, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of a road closure planned for from July 8th to 12th, on Palaugaa Drive. This closure is to allow for street upgrades and culvert installation.

Local traffic will still be able to access Palaugaa Drive throughout the duration of the work. The site layout and traffic control plans are shown below.
