Traffic Disruption – September 30
September 29, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

On Saturday September 30th, beginning at 6 am, there will be a slight traffic disruption. A house is being moved via truck from the area near the softball field to the Telesat station on the Apex Road.

The entire process is expected to take under an hour. Please be aware of the work crews, and thank you for your patience.

City of Iqaluit Firefighters are currently responding to an active fire at 5316. Residents may experience traffic disruptions in the area. Please follow the instructions of Municipal Enforcement officers directing traffic at the scene.

Please avoid 5316 for the duration of the fire, to give our firefighters the room they need to complete their job safely.

Please be advised of a localized water shut down Tuesday, October 3rd, from 9 am to 11 am, to allow for necessary water infrastructure work.

Location of water interruption: 1121, 1123, 1125 and 1127.

Recreation Holiday Hours –Truth and Reconciliation Day
September 27, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that recreation facilities will be operating with limited hours on Truth and Reconciliation Day (September 30th) and on the following Monday Civic Holiday (October 2nd).

On September 30th and October 2nd, the pool and fitness centre will be open from noon until 4.

Blast Notification - Aqqusariaq (Nunavut Recovery Center)
September 27, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

Work has begun on Aqqusariaq (the Nunavut Recovery Centre) and blasting will be required. Drilling and blasting operations will be happening daily, between 8:30 am and 6:30 pm, starting Thursday September 28th. Blasting and drilling will continue until Thursday, October 12th.

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that the Elders Qammaq will be closed from September 27th to September 30th, for repairs to the building. We apologize for the inconvenience, and regular programming will resume next week.

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of a road closure planned for from September 16th to October 6th on Airait Court.
