The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of a road closure planned for Queen Elizabeth Way from June 7th to 23rd. This closure is to allow for street upgrades.
Local traffic will still be able to access businesses throughout the duration of the work. The site layout and traffic control plans are shown below.

The City of Iqaluit Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 147A at lunch time on June 6th. The preliminary cause of the fire is believed to be unsafe, makeshift, amateur wiring.
The occupants of the building were not home at the time of the fire. No one was injured. There was some fire damage to two rooms of the home, and extensive smoke damage throughout.

City of Iqaluit Firefighters are currently responding to an active fire at 147A. Residents may experience traffic disruptions in the area. Please follow the instructions of Municipal Enforcement officers directing traffic at the scene.
Please avoid 147A for the duration of the fire, to give our firefighters the room they need to complete their job safely.

Traffic Disruption – Pride Parade
On Saturday June 10th, starting at 11am, there will be a short traffic disruption on the Ring Road for a Pride Parade hosted by Positive Space Nunavut.
People wishing to join the parade are invited to gather at the Nakasuk School parking lot between 10:30 am and 10:45 to set up. The parade will begin and end in the school parking lot.
The parade route is marked in red on the attached map.

Prior to our public information sessions about our water supply expansion plans – June 7th at Abe Okpik Hall in Apex and June 9th at the Elders Qammaq in Iqaluit, 4pm to 6 pm- the City of Iqaluit would like to share some information that outlines options for the proposed work.
There are three main goals for the Long term Water program:
1 - Replace and modernize the piped infrastructure sections that are susceptible to leaks and breaks.

The City of Iqaluit is pleased to announce that the annual community clean up will take place on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We encourage all residents, businesses and visitors to spend the day outdoors and assist in cleaning up our beautiful community. Bags, gloves, and other supplies will be available for pickup starting at 8:30 AM outside the Iqaluit Library/Unikkaarvik Visitor Center.
