The City of Iqaluit would like to remind residents that students are returning to school in Iqaluit September 3rd 2024, please drive with caution, especially around school buses and in the areas of the schools.
Be alert and mindful during dim mornings and dark afternoons, it can be difficult to see pedestrians.
Remember it is illegal to pass a school bus when its red lights are flashing and stop sign activated.

Temporary Closure of Metal Section at the Landfill

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that the metal section of the landfill will be closed from September 4 to 14, to facilitate the transportation of crushed metal off the site.
During this period, the landfill will not accept any scrap metal, appliances, or end-of-life vehicles. Regular garbage waste disposal will remain open as usual.

This change is necessary to facilitate the transition of the facility for the upcoming Nunavut Trade Show, which will be held from September 17 to 19, 2024, followed by preparations for ice activities.
