The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that ice conditions on lakes and ponds within the municipality are not safe at this time of the year due to noticeably thin ice and open water.

Please be advised of an immediate emergency water shut down on Wednesday, October 12 2022 from approximately 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Holiday Schedule for Trucked-Services and City Facilities

October 6, 2022 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City would like to advise residents that City offices, arenas and the landfill will be closed to the public and trucked services will not run on:

• Monday, October 10, 2022

The Aquatic Center will be open from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Signage Review Paurngaq Crescent (2500’s area)

October 6 2022 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residence that after a signage review of the 2500’s area on Paurngaq Crescent, and adhering to the standards outlined within the guidelines of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Canada, the City will remove, as well as relocate affected signage in this area.

2022 Volunteer Awards Nominations

The 2022 Volunteer Appreciation Awards are being held on Wednesday, November 16th, 2022.

Due to the lack of nominations we will extending the nomination window to Thursday, October 13th, 2022. 

If residents know of a person that deserves recognition for their contribution to the community, the City of Iqaluit would love to hear from you. Digital nominations can be filled out online at:
