The City of Iqaluit would like to remind residents that there is zero tolerance for public drinking in the City, particularly at city-owned assets such as recreation facilities. Public intoxication and disruptive behaviour are not tolerated. These measures are in place to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of all community members.

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents of a complete road closure from July 8 to August 5, affecting Sinaa Street between Umiaq Crescent and Qajaq Lane. This closure is necessary to install additional guard-railing and to re-grade the roadway.
The City of Iqaluit apologizes for any inconvenience and thanks residents for their understanding.

Leisure Pool Closure for Emergency Maintenance

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that the leisure pool at the Iqaluit Aquatic Centre will be closed until Monday, July 8th due to emergency mechanical maintenance.
As a result, the Parent and Tot swim scheduled for Friday will be cancelled. All other swims, including the Parent and Tot swims scheduled over the weekend, will be held in the lap pool.

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents about changes to the intersection at Niuraivik Lane and Mivvik Street. With the construction of the Kisaut building, a new drive aisle was added, transforming the intersection into a 4-way stop to improve safety and traffic flow.

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that the Public Works will be conducting hydrant flushing and inspections throughout the city. This work will start on Tuesday, July 2, and will be completed on Friday, July 19.
This program is necessary to remove sediment that accumulates in the water mains. It allows crews to operate, inspect, and maintain all of the fire hydrants to ensure that they are working properly.

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of a delay in the planned icebreaking operations by the Canadian Coast Guard. Originally scheduled to begin on June 28, 2024, the icebreaking operations have been postponed due to a change in industry schedules. The new start date for these operations is now set for July 4, 2024.
