Road Closure – Ungalliqpaat Crescent

September 13, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of a road closure planned from September 22nd to 26th on Ungalliqpaat Crescent (the road that runs next to the softball field.)

Travel south bound (toward the airport) will be completely closed on Ungalliqpaat Crescent. North bound travel (leaving the airport) will still be open.

Fire Department Thanks Residents

September 11, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit Fire Department wants to thank residents for their improved response in clearing the road for emergency vehicles. Residents are pulling over to the shoulder of the road when they see the flashing lights, and the improvement is noticeable.

Road Closure – Sivumugiaq Street

September 7, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of a road closure planned for from September 10th to 27th on Sivumugiaq Street (formerly known as Federal Road) near the correctional facilities. This closure is to allow for water upgrades.

Local traffic will still be able to access Sivumugiaq Street throughout the duration of the work. The site layout and traffic control plans are shown below.

Road Closure – Sept 15th to 18th

September 7, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of a road closure planned for September 15th to 18th, near the hospital. This closure is to allow for installation of a crosswalk between the medical boarding home and the hospital.

The site layout and traffic control plans are shown below.

Council will hold a Public Hearing at 5:30 pm Tuesday, September 12, 2023, in City Council Chambers.

Household Hazardous Waste Day and Paint Exchange

September 5, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit will be hosting a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Day and paint exchange on Saturday September 9th, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the lot between Houses 411 and 413. This event provides residents an opportunity to safely dispose of their Household Hazardous Waste, as well as an opportunity for residents to swap paint canisters.

Precautionary Boil Water Advisory Lifted City Wide

The City of Iqaluit advises residents that the boil water advisory is lifted for the following location: City of Iqaluit.

Water Update – City Wide

The citywide water interruption on has now been resolved. There may be some temporary discolouration of the tap water.

The City of Iqaluit is under a precautionary boil water advisory for all customers.

When water pressure drops, the Chief Public Health Officer of Nunavut automatically issues a precautionary boil water advisory. If this water interruption affects your residence, you are under a precautionary boil water advisory.

City Offices Closed – September 1st

Due to the planned citywide water shutdown, City of Iqaluit offices at Building 1085 and 901 will be closed on September 1st. They will reopen on Tuesday, September 5th.
