City of Iqaluit Facility Standards
March 10, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City Of Iqaluit would like to remind residents that we have zero tolerance for abusive behaviour at City facilities. Residents engaging in abusive behaviour toward staff or residents at any City facility can be refused service and access to all City Facilities.

It is not the City’s desire to limit public access to our facilities. We simply want to keep our venues a safe place for staff and residents. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Water Treatment Plant Progress

Repairs to Iqaluit’s Water Treatment Plant are wrapping up. The contractors responsible for the work expect to recommend to the City of Iqaluit that we apply to the Government of Nunavut for permission to return to using the treatment plant as soon as the end of next week.

The City of Iqaluit has also hired a full time certified water treatment plant operator to supervise the facility and ensure that it operates as designed.

In what is quickly becoming an annual tradition, the Iqaluit Fire Department team on call today is made up entirely of women to celebrate International Women’s Day.

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, and has been held annually since 1911.
