Sewer Maintenance – May 21 to June 27

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that Tower Arctic Ltd., on behalf of the City, will be conducting sewer maintenance work throughout the community.

Work will take place on the side of the roads between the Access Vaults and Manholes (AV/MH’s) from May 21 to June 27, 2025. A map highlighting the areas and anticipated dates of work is attached for reference.

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that City offices will be closed to the public on Monday, May 19, 2025, in observance of Victoria Day.

The Aquatic Centre will be open on May 19 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. All other recreation facilities will be closed.

Partial Road Closure – Niaqunngusiariaq Road (AWG Complex)
May 12, 2025 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents of a partial road closure on Niaqunngusiariaq Road, in the area of the Arctic Winter Games Complex, from Wednesday, May 14 to Saturday, May 17, 2025.

This closure is necessary to allow for the installation of a new culvert.

Arnaitok Arena Closed
May 12, 2025 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that the Arnaitok Arena is now closed for the season.

City staff have begun removing the ice, and will be completing renovations and scheduled maintenance during the offseason to ensure the facility is ready for the next ice season.

An official reopening date will be shared once confirmed.

Pet Licenses and Increased Patrols

The City of Iqaluit would like to remind all residents that domestic animals must be licensed. Pet licences are free and available at the Municipal Enforcement Office (Building 1549). Make sure your pet wears their tag—it helps officers return lost animals quickly and avoids potential fines under City Bylaw 924.

The City of Iqaluit is advising residents that Pilitak Enterprises Ltd. will be conducting daily explosive blasting as part of the IOL development project. The blasting will take place from May 12 to July 1, 2025, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that the ice at the Arctic Winter Games Arena has been removed, and staff are currently in the process of installing turf for the upcoming summer season.

The turf will be ready for community use starting Saturday, May 17, 2025.
