Iqaluit Fire Department Responds to Shack Fire on August 14
Just after midnight on August 14th, 2020, the Iqaluit Fire Department responded to a fire on the beach. On arrival, the Iqaluit fire crew consisting of ten (10) members, found one shack on fire with one (1) occupant. The crew quickly extinguished the fire and removed on male occupant from the structure and began to provide medical treatment. Ambulance brought the occupant to Qikiqtani General Hospital. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Found Dogs
These animals are currently in the care of Municipal Enforcement. If you recognize your dog or would like to report a lost dog, please call City Dispatch at 979-5650 or 979-5600 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m Monday to Friday.
The Municipality advocates for the safety and well-being of dogs and plays an integral role in reuniting lost dogs. Every effort is made to locate and contact the animal's owner within 72 hours. After 72 hours, the dog may be subject to local adoption, sent out of territory, or euthanized.
