The City is pleased to announce that the annual large item pick-up program will take place from July 5 to July 10, 2021.

This is an opportunity for residents to discard difficult to remove items without a fee with the help of Public Works.
Residents can dispose of the following items:

The City of Iqaluit would like to remind residents to follow the Responsible Pet Ownership By-Law 796 that outlines the requirements for all pet owners within the City of Iqaluit.

All animal owners are required to obtain an annual yearly license tag from the City of Iqaluit, on or before January 5th in each calendar year.

All animals must be prevented from “Running at Large”, and when off its property must be leashed and under the control and supervision of a person at least 18 years of age.

Please be advised of a water shut down in the Tundra Ridge on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from approximately 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to allow for a repair to the water infrastructure.

Location of water interruption: 2494, 2696, 2703, 2705, 2706, 2707, 2708, 2710, 2712, 2714,
2716, 2718, 2720, 2722, 2724.

The City of Iqaluit is issuing a boil water advisory for these residents.

Iqaluit Fire Department responds to Plateau apartment fire

June 8 2021 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

 

 

Iqaluit Emergency Services responded to an apartment fire early this morning in the 5100 block of the Plateau subdivision.

 

Eleven firefighters, three fire trucks and two ambulances responded and quickly brought the fire under control, while minimizing the damage sustained to only the unit of origin.

The City of Iqaluit continues to work closely with the Government of Nunavut’s Department of Health to monitor and respond as needed to the COVID-19 situation.

Iqaluit City Council state of emergency due to COVID-19 is no longer in effect as of 11:59 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021.

All City parks, playgrounds and outdoor recreation spaces have reopened.

The Arnaitok Arena is open and taking online bookings.

Due to an emergency repair to the water infrastructure after a pipe burst this morning, there is a water shut down Lower Iqaluit and Happy Valley effective immediately. This is expected to last until 5 p.m. on June 8, 2021.

The City of Iqaluit is issuing a boil water advisory for these residents who experience water loss.

This is a precautionary measure due to a break in the water line during a repair to our water infrastructure.
