The City is providing an update on cabin construction in Iqaluit.
On October 27, 2020, council unanimously carried motion #20-339 to direct City staff to conduct background research, consultation and implementation of a Cabin Construction Program.

The City would like to remind residents that the water ban for car washes is still in effect. This ban includes all motor vehicles and boats, whether for personal or commercial use.
This notice is issued in accordance with section 206(3) of Bylaw 200.

Effective July 31st, 2021, the Residential Water Subsidy Rate has changed from $0.002 per Litre to $0.000 per Litre. The Residential Water Rate before the subsidy remains at $0.02 per Litre.

This is a precautionary measure due to a break in the water line during a repair to our water infrastructure.

City of Iqaluit to receive $5 million from the Government of Canada’s Rapid Housing Initiative to build new affordable housing units
August 4, 2021 – Iqaluit, Nunavut
The City of Iqaluit will receive $5 million in funding from the Government of Canada through the Cities Stream of the Rapid Housing Initiative (RHI) from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). This new funding will create up to nine new affordable housing units in Iqaluit.

The City of Iqaluit is undertaking work to remediate the Cemetery located in Apex. A contractor will be working on site from August 4 to mid September. The intent of the work is to improve drainage on the site.

The City would like to remind residents that the Iqaluit Aquatic Centre will be having their annual pool closure starting Tuesday, August 3rd.
This will only affect the Lap Pool. The Leisure Pool, Hot Tub, Fitness Centre and all Fitness classes will remain as scheduled.
