Aiggilii Road in Apex reopens

Aiggilii Road in Apex reopens

Aiggilii Road has reopened after snowmelt water from Apex River overflowed onto the bypass road into Apex on June 24, 2021.

Minimal damage was done and repairs to Aiggilii Road is underway. Two additional culverts will be installed to handle any increased water flow in the future.

For everyone’s safety, the City asks residents to refrain from visiting the area. The unpredictable water flow is a potential danger that can pull people into the river. The City thanks you for your cooperation.

City to begin Apex Cemetery remediation work, asks residents to collect memorial items

 

In preparation of site construction for the Apex Cemetery remediation project, the City is asking residents to collect personal and memorial items by July 26, 2021.

These include pictures, religious symbols, plastic flower arrangements, and other non-perishable items.
After July 26, the contractor will collect and store any remaining items. These items will be replaced after construction is completed this fall.

Please be advised of a water shut down in the Lower Iqaluit on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 from
approximately 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
to allow for a repair to the water infrastructure.

Location of water interruption: Lower Iqaluit

The City of Iqaluit is issuing a boil water advisory for these residents.

This is a precautionary measure due to a break in the water line during a repair to our water
infrastructure.

Raising of Pride flag

Raising of Pride flag

 

The City of Iqaluit will be raising the Pride flag at City Hall for one week from June 24 to June 30, 2021.

The raising of the pride flag, or rainbow flag, brings Iqalummiut together to celebrate Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, and Two-Spirit (LGBTQ2S+) pride and LGBTQ2S+ social movements.
