Clarification on Outdated Food Voucher Announcement

The City of Iqaluit would like to clarify recent confusion regarding the ICFI Food Voucher Program.

We have recently received a high number of calls and in-person visits following the re-circulation of a public service announcement dated October 9, 2024. While that notice was accurate at the time, it is no longer current.

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that City offices will be closed on Monday, October 13, 2024, for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Please note that residential water and sewer services, as well as garbage collection, will operate on their regular schedule. The Iqaluit Aquatic Centre will be open from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

The lottery process for the fall session of swimming lessons has now closed.

This session received over 300 entries. The lottery system was used to support fair and consistent access to programs for all families, regardless of when or how they were able to register.

As Fire Prevention Week continues, the City of Iqaluit reminds residents that fire safety extends beyond the home.

Improperly disposed lithium-ion batteries are a major fire hazard. Fires caused by damaged or loose batteries can occur in garbage trucks, waste bins, transfer stations, and landfills. These fires put people, equipment, and the environment at risk.
