LABOUR DAY HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR ALL CITY FACILITIES
AND TRUCKED-SERVICES  

September 5, 2020 (IQALUIT, NUNAVUT) - The City would like to advise residents that City offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2020. Truck services will also not operate on Monday, September 7, 2020.

Residents requesting water delivery on Monday may call the City’s dispatch service at 979.5650, from 8 AM to 4 PM. A service charge of $250 will be applied for emergency delivery. 

Water Shut Down in Happy Valley on September 8

Please be advised that a water interruption will be taking place in Happy Valley on Tuesday, September 8th, 2020 from approximately 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to allow for scheduled repairs to our water infrastructure.

Road Closure Between Core Area and West 40

Residents are advised of a road closure at the end of Ikaluktuutiak Drive at the intersection of Akilliq and Allanngua, between the Core Area and West 40. The closure will take place from Thursday, September 3rd to Wednesday, September 16th, 2020 to allow for infrastructure repairs.

Barricades and signs for a detour route are in place.

Call for Mass Registration List

Residents, please be advised that the City of Iqaluit’s annual mass registration will be hosted virtually this year due to the COVID-19 safety measures that limit the size of in-person gatherings.

Organizations and groups who would like to be on the registration list will need to submit the following information to Kevan Nelson at K.Nelson@iqaluit.ca by Wednesday, September 9th, 2020.

COVID-19 Donation Supports Uquutaq Society Men’s Shelter

The City of Iqaluit is pleased to announce a generous donation from the CMA Foundation (CMAF) that will enable our community to better protect and assist our priority populations that need it the most during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Temporary Closure for Landfill Metal Operations

Residents and businesses are advised that the Iqaluit landfill’s metal operations will be closed to the public from August 31 to September 21 to allow Kudlik Construction to process metal that is currently onsite.

During this time, we ask everyone to refrain from bringing metal refuse to the landfill. The landfill will restart metal collection on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2020.

Pool Reopens at 12 p.m. on Friday, August 21

Please be advised that the Aquatic Centre’s pool reopens today at 12 p.m. on Friday, August 21st.

The City thanks everyone for their cooperation while the pool was temporary closed to allow for a maintenance system update.

Guests can continue to reserve scheduled lane swims starting Friday, August 21st at 12:15 p.m.

Paint Can Exchange Program Date Change to Saturday, August 22

Please be advised that there is a date change for the City’s Paint Can Exchange Program to be held on Saturday, August 22nd, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Airbase Garage (City Garage) located at Four-Corners. This is a change from the original date of Friday, August 21st.

Residents are invited to drop-off, exchange, or pick-up paints at the event. City Staff will safely dispose of all leftover paints.
