Community Clean Up: Friday June 14, 2024
May 21, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City is pleased to announce that the annual community clean up will take place on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We encourage all residents, businesses and visitors to spend the day outdoors and assist in cleaning up our beautiful community.

Bags, gloves, and other supplies will be available for pickup starting at 8:30 AM outside the Iqaluit Library/Unikkaarvik Visitor Center.

Household Hazardous Waste – Summer/Fall Drop-off Schedule

The City of Iqaluit will be hosting several Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) disposal events, throughout the City, over the course of the summer and fall. These event provide residents an opportunity to safely dispose of their Household Hazardous Waste, by bringing it to a set drop-off point.

Funding Increase for Municipal Capital Block Funding and Mivvik Street Paving Project
May 17, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit is pleased to announce an increase in the Municipal Capital Block Funding (MCBF) from $5,000,000 to $9,000,000, thanks to the generous support of the Government of Nunavut. This significant funding boost will allow the City to proceed with vital infrastructure projects, including the much-anticipated repaving of a portion of Mivvik Street – which will take place this summer.

Full Road Closure – Palaugaa Road – May 29, 2024 to July 16, 2024

May 17, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents of a complete road closures (map below) affecting Palaugaa Road (see map below), to allow for the installation of new Hydro Poles, realignment of Palaugaa road and the installation of ditching and culverts.

The closure will be in effect Wednesday, May 29,2024 to Sunday, July 16, 2024.

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents a complete road closure (map below) affecting the vicinity of 1060 Allannguaq Street. This closure is necessary to ensure the safety of residents during the filming of scenes for the “North of North”.

The closure will be in effect from Tuesday, May 21, from 7:00AM to 10:00PM.

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents of multiple complete road closures (map below) affecting Paurngaq Crescent. This closure is necessary to ensure the safety of residents during the filming of scenes for the “North of North”.

The closure will be in effect from Friday, May 24, 2024 from 7:00AM to 10:00PM.

Rainbow Equity Rally – May 16 – Four Corners
May 15, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that community members will be organizing a peaceful rally, at the four corners intersection (Sivumugiaq Road and Niaqunngusiariaq Road), for the Rainbow Week of Action.

The rally will take place on Thursday, May 16th at 5:00PM and last roughly 30 minutes.
