Road Closure: Mivvik Street Paving Project Phase Two
July 18, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut
The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of a scheduled road closure on Mivvik Street from July 10, 2024, to August 10, 2024. This closure is necessary for the much-anticipated repaving of Mivvik Street, a vital infrastructure project funded through the Municipal Capital Block Funding.
The Mivvik Street Paving Project involves the complete removal and replacement of the existing pavement and road foundation over an area of 5400 square meters. This work includes excavation, disposal of old materials, the supply and installation of new granular subbase and base materials, and the application of a new hot mix pavement in two layers. This project is part of our commitment to improving the infrastructure within Iqaluit, ensuring safer and more reliable roadways for our residents.
The closure will occur in three phases, and an update to the public will be provided when each phase begins:
Phase 2:
- Start Date: July 18, 2024
- Completion Date: July 25, 2024
During the closure, access to properties along Mivvik Street may be limited, and residents should anticipate minor delays. We advise residents to plan their travel routes accordingly and appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we undertake these essential improvements.
