Full Road Closure – Apex Bridge Replacement

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that the construction of the new Apex Bridge, originally set for completion by October 20, has been delayed until November 10, 2024.

The delay is due to unexpected issues with the ground underneath the bridge, which required extra work to ensure a strong and lasting foundation. Some rain delays have also added time to the project.

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that City offices will be closed on Monday, October 14, 2024, for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Please note that residential water and sewer services, as well as garbage collection, will operate on their regular schedule. The Iqaluit Aquatic Centre will be open from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

The City of Iqaluit is pleased to provide an update on the ongoing waste vehicle and equipment collection program. As of today, a total of 50 vehicles have been successfully collected, resulting in significant cost savings of $37,000 for the community. Additionally, 7 skidoos and ATVs have been collected, offering a further cost relief of $1,500 to residents.

This program, made possible through funding from the Child’s First Initiative and Jordan’s Principle programs, in partnership with the Indigenous Kids Network of Canada, will provide direct financial support to help families access nutritious and affordable food in Nunavut.
