On February 22, 2022, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Iqaluit council enacted Bylaw 931 Access to Council Chambers, Council Committee Meetings and Municipal Buildings During the COVID-19 Pandemic that mandate vaccines to reduce hazards relating to the COVID-19 virus.
The City would like to advise residents that trucked-services will not run on Good Friday on April 15th and Easter Monday on April 18th.
City offices are closed to the public on Friday, April 15, 2022 and Monday, April 18, 2022.
Please be advised of the following alternate schedule for trucked-services:

The City of Iqaluit is advising residents the City of Iqaluit landfill will resume normal activities on Saturday April 9, 2022.

Shortly before 12:00 PM the fire at the city landfill was extinguished.
Various parties came together quickly and effectively, in the early hours of the morning, to fight this fire. The City would like to extend special thanks to:
At 2:12AM on Wednesday, April 6, a landfill fire was confirmed at the City of Iqaluit landfill.
Nine City of Iqaluit fire fighters and seven public works staff along with three water trucks responded to the fire. Due to the inclement weather, the Iqaluit Airport has provided the City with a mobile command post, to provide relief to the City fire fighters and ensure the have a secure area to stay warm and hydrated.
The City would like to remind residents that insurance as well as registration and a licence plate issued from the Department of Motor Vehicles are required for anyone using an allterrain
vehicle (ATV) within city limits.
