Mask Mandate Lifted
July 13, 2022 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that in line with the other provinces’ practice and the latest recommendation from the Nunavut CPHO on July 4th, 2022, a recommendation was put forward to Council to repeal By-Law 937: Temporary Face Covering. On July 12, 2022, the City Council voted unanimously in favour of the aforementioned recommendation.

Effective immediately, mask wearing is no longer required within City facilities.

The City is organizing a mini community clean in preparation for the upcoming Papal Visit. The clean up will take place on Friday, July 22 2022 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The City is actively looking for volunteers to take part in cleaning up the downtown core. We encourage all residents, businesses and visitors to spend the day outdoors and assist in cleaning up our beautiful community.

The City of Iqaluit will be hosting Summer in the Square for 2022. Summer in the Square will be take place at Iqaluit Square. The event will be a fair that brings together residents interested in selling their art, crafts and/or food. The City will set up tables that registered parties can use to display and sell their items.

The City of Iqaluit advises residents that the precautionary boil water advisory is lifted for the following location: 779, 782, 784, 786, 788, 790, 806.

If residents experience water discolouration, they are advised to run their cold tap water for approximately ten minutes, to flush the discolouration out.

Please be advised of the following alternate schedule for trucked-services:

• Tuesday, July 12, 2022 – 6:00 am until finished

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents of the road closures and traffic control measures being implemented on Niaqunngusiariaq Street, to allow sewer upgrades to be performed. This work marks the beginning of the sewer upgrade project that will take place along Niaqunngusiariaq Street up to Allanguaq Street.
