Iqaluit Recreation Master Plan Recipient of National Award of Excellence – Research, from Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA)

George Harris Collaborative Inc. was presented a National Award of Excellent, in the research category, from the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA) for their work with the City of Iqaluit on the Iqaluit Recreation Master Plan.

Aquatic Center Facilities Reopening
August 5, 2022 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to update residents on the Annual Aquatic Centre Maintenance and Pool Shutdown.

We are pleased to announce that maintenance has been completed for the Fitness Centre and it will be opened August 6th.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Lap Pool and Leisure Pool will remain closed and reopen on August 8th at 6:30am.

Waterways Cleanup Event
August 3, 2022 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The Annual Waterways Cleanup Event will be taking place on Friday, August 26, 2022 from 9am to 4pm.

Iqaluit’s waterways, creeks, rivers, ocean, and beachfront areas are important to the overall health, safety, and well-being of our community.

Residents wishing to take part in the cleanup can pick up gloves, garbage bags and raffle tickets behind the Elder’s Qammaq.

2022 Summer in the Square Postponed due to Inclement Weather
July 29, 2022 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that the Summer in the Square event schedule
to take place in Iqaluit Square on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM has been postponed due to inclement weather.

The City will issue a separate public service announcement, with an alternate date, once assigned.

City of Iqaluit Facility Closures July 28, 2022 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that City facilities will close from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, July 29, 2022.

The Fitness Center will reopen at 6:00 PM and remain open until 10:00 PM.

Residents will still be able to access Pita Shack, at the Aquatic Center, during the closure.
