The Position
Under the direction of the Youth Coordinator, the incumbent assists in daily skate park operations. Ensures the safety of facility patrons by preventing accidents, enforcing rules and regulations, and responding to emergencies. Must have the ability to deal effectively with both youth and adults. Performs other related duties as required. Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assisting in supervising skateboard and inline skating activities
- Enforcing safety rules and regulations
- Renting equipment to the public
- Ensuring recreational facilities and equipment are properly used and maintained
- Maintaining accurate records and logs
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment
- Be a positive role model for children and lead by example
- Promoting a safe, positive environment for children
- Assisting in various special events
Preferred Education, Skills and Knowledge:
- Experience working with youth in a recreational setting. (ie. After-school programs, camps, coaching)
- Experience skateboarding and/or In-line skating
- Excellent communications skills
- Customer Service Experience
- First Aid and CPR qualifications
- Ability to speak Inuktitut is an asset
Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate must successfully pass a criminal record check including the Vulnerability Sector and TB test.
The hourly rate of pay for this position is $23.69 per hour plus 6% vacation pay.
