Public Works crews will be performing some tests on the utilidor system in the Plateau neighborhood this afternoon. Some Plateau residents may temporarily experience low water pressure. The City of Iqaluit thanks you for your patience.

The City of Iqaluit’s Municipal Enforcement Department is happy to announce that three of their officers were officially sworn in on June 6, 2023.

Officers Najee Anderson, Jenna Korgak and Briana Shaimaiyuk-Baines took their oaths of office in front of family and friends at Iqaluit City Hall.

The City of Iqaluit wants to congratulate the officers on this milestone, and thank them for their continued service.

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that due to potential safety hazards, the scrap metal site at the landfill will be closed to the general public from June 15, 2023 to July 13, 2023. This is to allow for metal crushing activities to be performed.

Pride Parade Route Change

The City of Iqaluit wants to inform the public that –due to construction- there will be a slight change to the parade route for Saturday’s Pride Parade. The attached map shows the new route.

On Saturday June 10th, starting at 11am, there will be a short traffic disruption for a Pride Parade hosted by Positive Space Nunavut.

The City is pleased to announce that the annual community clean up will take place on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We encourage all residents, businesses and visitors to spend the day outdoors and assist in cleaning up our beautiful community.

Bags, gloves, and other supplies will be available for pickup starting at 8:30 AM outside the Iqaluit Library/Unikkaarvik Visitor Center.

Please be advised of a water shut down on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at approximately 1:00 p.m. to allow for necessary water infrastructure work.

Location of water interruption: Happy Valley 400’s, 500’s and 1600’s.

The City of Iqaluit will issue a precautionary boil water advisory for the above addresses following the shutdown.

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of a road closure planned for Queen Elizabeth Way from June 7th to 23rd. This closure is to allow for street upgrades.

Local traffic will still be able to access businesses throughout the duration of the work. The site layout and traffic control plans are shown below.
