When You See The Lights, Pull Over To The Right
August 1, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to remind residents that emergency vehicles with their flashing lights and sirens on have the right of way on City streets.

To put it simply, when you see the flashing lights and hear the sirens, pull your vehicle over to the shoulder of the road and allow the emergency vehicles to pass.

Under the City of Iqaluit Bylaw 943 Sec. 2.25, the fine for failing to allow an emergency vehicle the right of way is $500.

The City would also like to remind residents travelling on foot or on bicycle to also make space for emergency vehicles. Please take a moment and remind our younger community members and visitors to be aware of the flashing lights.

Together, we can help make Iqaluit a safer place for us all.
