The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents of an update to the timing of the second Summer in the Square, scheduled to take place in Iqaluit Square on Saturday, July 30, 2022. The event will now take place from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM (previously scheduled from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM).

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents of road closures and traffic control measures being implemented on July 29, 2022, in relation to the Papal Visit to Iqaluit.

Queen Elizabeth (between Sinaa and Mattaaq Crescent) will be closed to all vehicle traffic from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., to ensure pedestrian safety during the events relating to the Papal Visit.

The City would like to advise residents that the Iqaluit Aquatic Centre will have annual maintenance taking place from Saturday, July 23, 2022 to Saturday, August 6, 2022.

As a result of this maintenance, there will be facility closures:

                         • The pool area will be closed from July 23rd to August 6th.

Mask Mandate Lifted
July 13, 2022 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that in line with the other provinces’ practice and the latest recommendation from the Nunavut CPHO on July 4th, 2022, a recommendation was put forward to Council to repeal By-Law 937: Temporary Face Covering. On July 12, 2022, the City Council voted unanimously in favour of the aforementioned recommendation.

Effective immediately, mask wearing is no longer required within City facilities.
