Construction Notice – ATCO Loop Decommissioning
September 21, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of planned construction work in between Queen Elizabeth Way, Sinaa Street, Nipisa Street and Umiaq Crescent. The construction area is marked in red on the attached map.

Work is scheduled to continue until October 27th. There will be occasional road closures, and the City of Iqaluit will inform residents in advance of any closures or detours.

Vehicle lights
September 21, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

As the summer comes to an end, the colder dark months approach, the City of Iqaluit Municipal Enforcement Department would like to remind motorists that headlights and taillights must be turned on during hours of darkness or inclement weather.

An increase in motorists have been observed driving at night with only their lower lit, daytime running lights activated and no tail lights.

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of a road closure planned from September 21st to 25th on Ukkivik Lane.

This is to allow upgrades to the water distribution system. The site layout and traffic control plans are shown below.

The water interruption for Upper and Lower Plateau – 5000’s, 5100’s, 5200’s, 5300’s, 504 to 519 has now been resolved.

Upper and Lower Plateau – 5000’s, 5100’s, 5200’s, 5300’s, 504 to 519 remain under a precautionary boil water advisory.

Please be advised of a localized water shut down on Tuesday, September 19th, from 9 am to 5 pm, to allow for necessary water infrastructure work.

Location of water interruption: Upper and Lower Plateau – 5000’s, 5100’s, 5200’s, 5300’s, 504 to 519.

Road Closure – Sivumugiaq Street
September 18, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of a road closure planned from September 27th to October 9th on Sivumugiaq Street (formerly known as Federal Road).

While Sivumugiaq Street will be closed near the intersection with Ungalliqpaat Crescent, local traffic can still access the area through a detour.

This is to allow upgrades to the water distribution system. The site layout and traffic control plans are shown below.

Road Closure – Ungalliqpaat Crescent

September 13, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of a road closure planned from September 22nd to 26th on Ungalliqpaat Crescent (the road that runs next to the softball field.)

Travel south bound (toward the airport) will be completely closed on Ungalliqpaat Crescent. North bound travel (leaving the airport) will still be open.

Fire Department Thanks Residents

September 11, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit Fire Department wants to thank residents for their improved response in clearing the road for emergency vehicles. Residents are pulling over to the shoulder of the road when they see the flashing lights, and the improvement is noticeable.
