REMINDER: Use of Seatbelts and child restraint system in vehicle 
March 29, 2022 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to remind residents that as per the Nunavut Traffic Safety Act, as well as City of Iqaluit By-Law # 894 the Traffic Safety By-law, you are required to wear your seatbelt while operating a motor vehicle, whether you are a driver or a passenger.

Children also of the prescribed size or weight must be properly secured in a prescribed child restraint system.

These areas remain under a precautionary boil water advisory.

During a precautionary boil water advisory, the City recommends that all water for consumption is brought to a rolling boil for a minimum of one full minute.

It is recommended that all water be boiled for the following uses:

The City is pleased to announce that the civic holiday for Toonik Tyme will be held this year on Friday, April 8TH, 2022. As per By-law 735 and amendment 771, this full-day civic holiday, scheduled on the first Friday of the festival, is intended to allow residents time to participate in event activities.
