Please be advised that starting October 10th, the City of Iqaluit Recreation Department will be transitioning its Recreation Management Software to ActiveNet Communities. As of this date, Max Galaxy will no longer be operational, and the website will no longer be functional.

City of Iqaluit Responds to Social Media Posts about Drinking Water

The City of Iqaluit is responding to concerns on social media that were posted this past weekend about an odor in the drinking water. The City tests and monitors drinking water daily. All test results are satisfactory.

The City takes these concern seriously and has been in contact with Public Health throughout the weekend. Drinking water is disinfected using chlorine (and ultraviolet light) as such, slight chlorine odours may be present in the water.

National Day of Truth and Reconciliation

The Iqaluit City Council is proud to acknowledge and support the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation – which is action #80 in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s (TRC) report. Residents and city staff are encouraged to take time to reflect, and city staff will have the day off in order to participate in the community event for this day.

Apex Bridge Upgrade Investigation – Bridge Closed

Apex Bridge Upgrade Investigation – Bridge Closed

Please be advised of bridge upgrade investigations that will occur on September 30, 2021. During this short period, Apex Bridge will be closed. Road users will need to use the bypass road adjacent to Apex Bridge. The geotechnical investigation work is needed to investigate long-term Apex Bridge upgrade options.

City of Iqaluit Office Closure – September 30, 2021

The City of Iqaluit is acknowledging the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation by closing its City offices and public buildings on Thursday, September 30, 2021 to allow residents and staff time for reflection on this significant day.

Trucked-services, garbage service as well as recreation services will be limited. Please be advised of the following alternate schedules for each service:

Accessibility Entrance at New City Hall

Accessibility Entrance at New City Hall

The City of Iqaluit would like to remind residents with mobility impairment of the accessibility ramp that is located in the back of City Hall at building 1085. Residents with mobility impairments are encouraged to use this entrance when visiting City Hall for bill payments or any other required business at the City Hall offices.

The City would also like to remind residents that masks are mandatory throughout Nunavut, and are required in order to enter the City Hall building until further notice.
