The Qikiqtani Inuit Association and the City of Iqaluit are collaborating to inspire community members and businesses to keep our waterways clean. Iqaluit’s waterways, creeks, rivers, ocean, and beachfront areas are important to the overall health, safety and well-being of our community.

Paint Can Exchange Program
July 17th, 2020 – Iqaluit, Nunavut
The City is pleased to host a Paint Can Exchange Program on August 21st, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Airbase Garage (City Garage) located at Four-Corners.
Residents are invited to drop-off, exchange, or pick-up paints at the event. City Staff will safely dispose of all leftover paints.
Participants are welcome to leave a cash donation for the Jimmy Kilabuk Children’s Recreation Fund.

Arctic Winter Games Indoor Sports Field Reopens July 15th
July 13th, 2020 – Iqaluit, Nunavut
The City of Iqaluit Recreation Department is pleased to announce that the Arctic Winter Games Arena Indoor Sports Field will reopen on Wednesday, July 15th.
Residents can book the turf field and lobby for sports and activities, birthday parties, and other private rentals.

Precautionary Boil Water Recommendation for Lower Iqaluit
July 10th, 2020 – Iqaluit, Nunavut
The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that there was an emergency water shutdown this morning, Friday, July 10th, 2020 from 9:00AM to 10:00AM. The shutdown was to allow for repairs to a valve replacement in Lower Iqaluit that affected units in the 100s, 200s, and 300s. The water is now back on.

Residential and commercial garbage collection will experience delays this week due to a mechanical issue with a City garbage truck. The City is actively working on a solution and expects to have the truck operational again by Friday, July 10th, 2020.
Delayed garbage collection will continue while down to one operational truck.
