CITY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING SCRAP METAL AT THE LANDFILL UNTIL JANUARY 2020

City Will Not Be Accepting Scrap Metal at the Landfill Until January 2020

November 5, 2019 (Iqaluit, Nunavut) – Please be advised that the City of Iqaluit will stop accepting scrap metal at its landfill, located at the West 40, for the remainder of 2019 and will resume accepting scrap metal in early January 2020.  The temporary change will come into effect on November 8, 2019.

The reason for the temporary change it to accommodate work being done at the landfill to facilitate access improvements.

CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS

October 29, 2019 (Iqaluit, Nunavut) - The results for Iqaluit's newly elected Council members have been released.  Twenty-seven candidates ran for 8 positions on City Council. The City of Iqaluit’s new Council members (elect) are:  Janet Pitsiulaaq Brewster, Joanasie Akumalik, Solomon Awa, Romeyn Stevenson, Sheila Flaherty, Kyle Sheppard, Simon Nattaq and Malaiya Lucassie.

THE CITY OF IQALUIT WELCOMES ITS NEW MAYOR

October 28, 2019 (Iqaluit, Nunavut) - The results for Iqaluit's new Mayor are in.  Two candidates ran for Mayor, Noah Papatsie and Kenneth Bell.

Kenneth Bell is Iqaluit’s new Mayor elect with 1049 votes, Noah Papatsie came second with 688 votes. The new Mayor will serve a four-year term ending October 2023.
