With more Iqalummiut turning to Facebook to buy and sell prepared foods, the City is reminding residents that they must obtain a valid business license to sell foods and of the importance of proper food handling.

City Building #901 at Arnaitok Complex to Receive Accessibility Upgrades and Renovations
The City Building #901 at Arnaitok Complex will undergo renovations in 2020 and 2021 to provide residents of Iqaluit with a more accessible and inclusive municipal facility.
The renovations will increase the number of citizens with accessibility issues to complete their everyday tasks independently and attend events and meetings.

Cabin Construction on Unleased Municipal Lands on Hold until Further Notice
The City will explore the development of a process to regulate construction of cabins and recreational structures on unleased municipal land, following a unanimous decision at the July 28 Council meeting. The decision resulted from a recommendation at the Planning and Development Committee of a Whole on July 21st, 2020.
Residents are advised that until the City finalizes a process for new cabins, residents are to halt construction of cabins on unleased municipal land.
Change in Residential Water Subsidy Rate
Change in Residential Water Subsidy Rate
Effective July 31st, 2020, the Residential Water Subsidy Rate has changed from $0.006 per Litre to $0.004 per Litre. The Residential Water Rate before the subsidy remains at $0.02 per Litre. The resulting change is an increase in the cost of residential water of $0.002 per Litre.

2019 Property Tax Arrears List
The City of Iqaluit is publishing the 2019 Property Tax Arrears List as required by Section 97 of the Property Assessment and Taxation Act. This list reflects properties in Iqaluit owing more than $500. The list reflects the last update on July 15th, 2020.
Payments can be made online through online banking or by calling 867-979-5606. If you have any questions or need help setting up a payment plan, please contact Geneva Chislett at G.chislett@iqaluit.ca.
