Please be advised of a water shut down on Thursday, April 13th, 2023 at approximately 1:00 p.m. to allow for necessary water infrastructure work.

Location of water interruption: 619, 621, 624, 626, 923, 924, 926, 927 and 961

The City of Iqaluit will issue a precautionary boil water advisory for the above addresses following the shutdown.

Roadblocks Remain in Place – 767 Fire Response
April 11, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of our plans for the two roadblocks in place following the weekend structure fire at building 767.

The roadblock on Natsiq Street will remain in place due to the amount of material from the fire still on the road. Public Works and the Fire Department are working together to see if the roadblock on Fred Coman St. can be lifted either Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday.

Fire Response Update - Evening

The Iqaluit Fire Department continue to monitor the location of today’s structure fire near Capital Suites. The bulk of the firefighting is complete; they remain on scene to monitor for hot spots or any additional combustion.

Trucked Water Services Returned

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that trucked water services have now been restored, following a brief interruption to allow the water trucks to help fight this morning’s structure fire. Thank you for your patience.

Traffic and Water Disruption Due to Fire Response

The Iqaluit Fire Department are currently responding to a structure fire near Capitol Suites. The City of Iqaluit is asking residents to avoid the area immediately surrounding Capitol Suites. Roads in that area have been closed to aid in the response.
