The City of Iqaluit is looking for a Head Lifeguard Swim Instructor to join the Iqaluit Aquatic Centre team!

Reporting to the Aquatics Program Supervisor, the Head Lifeguard Swim Instructor is responsible for the supervision and control of activities, safety standards, providing high quality customer service and cleanliness of the aquatic facility.  The Head Lifeguard Swim Instructor is responsible for the supervision of guests in the pool area while on shift and is expected to exercise mature judgement in carrying out lifeguarding and instructing duties.  In addition, the Head Lifeguard Swim Instructor will teach a variety of swim programs and perform rescues and first aid as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• National Lifeguard Service Award
• Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor
• First Aid and CPR – C
• A minimum of two years’ work experience as a lifeguard swim instructor
• Completion of Grade 10 or higher
• WHMIS training
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Demonstrated punctuality and reliability

Assets include the ability to speak and write in both in Inuktitut or French.  As well as having the following certifications: Pool Operations Level 1, First Aid and CPR Instructor, High Five (PCD), Aquafit (CALA, Canfit, Waterart) or NCCP Coaching Level 1.

Equivalencies that include a combination of education and experience may be considered.

Proof of qualifications and NLS number are encouraged at time of application.  The successful candidate would be required to submit a Vulnerable Sector Check, as well as, TB testing.

Vision Requirement:  Candidates will, at the discretion of the City of Iqaluit, confirm vision standards of a minimum of 20/25 corrected
