The City of Iqaluit is advising residents that effective the 10 December, 2021 the Government of Nunavut’s Department of Health has lifted its Do Not Consume Order, issued on October 12, 2021. This means that all piped and trucked water can now be used for all potable water uses. The water that is being produced by the Water Treatment Plant meets or is better than the Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines.
The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents of a road closure. Qiyuttat Drive will be closed to thru-traffic for construction.
The closure will going into effect Friday, December 10th at 12 pm. An update will be provided once the road is reopened.
Residents along this road will still be able to access their homes.
The city of apologizes for any inconvenience and thanks you for your understanding.

Qaumakuluit Holiday Contest
The annual Qaumakuluit Holiday Contest is open to all businesses and residents.
There is no need to register. To participate, have your lights and decorations on and ready from 3-7
p.m. on Wednesday, December 15th, 2021. Winners will be announced on the following day
Thursday, December 16th.
The City of Iqaluit would like to remind residents in respect to the Public Health announcement on November 16, 2021 regarding a second fox testing positive for Rabies and the subsequent quarantine of sled dogs within Iqaluit.

The City would like to advise residents that effective December 9, 2021, the AWG water refill depot will also be providing residents with purified river water, supplied by the Canadian Armed Forces through Operation LENTUS. Residents can now refill water containers at the below water refill depots:
• AWG (indoors)
• Abe Okpik Hall (indoors)
• Elder's Qammaq (indoors)
The depots are open seven days a week from 11am-6pm.
Please be advised that due to repairs to the water infrastructure, a water interruptions will be taking place on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM to allow for the repairs.

The Iqaluit City Council has extended the state of emergency due to the local water crisis effective as of 12 a.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2021.
During a City Council meeting on Tuesday, December 7 Council approved the extension of the state of emergency. CAO Amy Elgersma will continue to act as the Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator.
In a state of emergency, the Emergency Measures Act allows the City to "do any act and take any measure the municipal Corporation considers necessary".
