Canada Day is July 1st and Nunavut Day is July 9th. As a result, recreation facilities will have a different schedule for those weekends.

Aquatics Centre:
Canada Day (July 1) – Closed

Nunavut Day (July 9th) – holiday hours 12-4

The City of Iqaluit would like to remind residents that our seasonal speed bumps are now in place. Our seasonal speed bumps can be found in roughly 25 locations throughout Iqaluit, and in most residential neighbourhoods.

The City of Iqaluit wants to inform residents that due to construction of an accessibility ramp, we are using an alternate entrance to the Arnaitok Arena.

Please access the arena through the red door located at the top of the accessibility ramp on the Aquatic Centre side for the duration of construction, and thank you for your patience.

The City of Iqaluit wants to inform residents that we will be installing an accessibility ramp at the front entrance of the 901 Arnaitok Arena and Fire Hall, from June 21st to July 3rd.

Arnaitok Arena will remain open. There will be no parking in the lot in front of the fire hall, please use the Arnaitok Arena parking lot.

The Iqaluit Fire Department spent some time last week sharpening their skills at their new training ground. If you noticed smoke coming from the West 40 last week, that is the fire department’s new training home.

With the instruction of Battalion Chief Jake Barnes from New Albany, Indiana, Iqaluit Firefighters spent the week getting better prepared to protect Iqaluit. The City thanks them for their hard work.

The City is pleased to announce that the annual residential large item pick-up program will take place on June 26 and June 27, 2023. This is an opportunity for residents to discard difficult to remove
items without a fee with the help of Public Works.
