Hydrant Flushing and Inspection Notice
June 24, 2025 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that the Public Works will be conducting hydrant flushing and inspections throughout the city. This work is scheduled to begin this week and will continue for approximately one month.

This program is necessary to remove sediment that accumulates in the water mains. It allows crews to operate, inspect, and maintain all of the fire hydrants to ensure that they are working properly.

Community Cleanup 2025: Cleaner Spaces, Stronger Community
June 18, 2025 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit extends a heartfelt thank you to all residents, businesses, and community groups who participated in the 2025 Community Cleanup on Friday, June 13. Your efforts helped collect 315 bags of garbage and an additional 35 cubic metres of oversized waste. While much of this litter comes from within our own community, the strong turnout and shared effort reflect a growing sense of responsibility for our shared spaces.

Dog Tag Demand Surges as Bylaw Awareness Grows

The City of Iqaluit would like to acknowledge a recent shift in community response to the updated animal control bylaw. Over the past several weeks, we have seen a notable increase in the number of dog tag registrations: more than were issued over the previous two years combined. This response shows that many residents are taking steps to register their pets, helping support clearer identification and faster reunification of lost dogs.
