The City of Iqaluit advises residents that the precautionary boil water advisory is now lifted for Sivumugiaq Street (formerly known as Federal Road) and the area immediately surrounding the Legislative Assembly.

The brief water interruption on Federal Road and the Legislative Assembly has now been resolved.

Iqaluit remains under a precautionary boil water advisory for all customers, for both trucked and piped water services.

During a precautionary boil water advisory, the City recommends that all water for consumption is brought to a rolling boil for a minimum of one full minute.

It is recommended that all water be boiled for the following uses:

There is an emergency water shutdown, effective immediately, for Lower Iqaluit and the Federal Road areas of Iqaluit. This is to fix a break in the system that is causing sewer back-up into the Legislative Assembly.

Iqaluit remains under a precautionary boil water advisory. The City of Iqaluit has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for the above addresses.

Water has been restored to the Tammaativvik medical boarding home. As of now, all water mains are operational.

Public Works crews are currently checking and clearing problem areas in the sewer system, as a precautionary measure. They are also repairing two leaks in the piped water system. Please conserve water.

Work continues on the water pipe located near the Tammaativvik medical boarding home. Piped water service has been restored to all of Iqaluit, with the exception of Tammaativvik.

If you live in a rental unit and still have no water, please contact your landlord to advise them of the issue so they can contact a local contractor to clear the line.

Repairs continue to the water line located near the Tammaativvik medical boarding home. Tammaativvik remains without water for the time being.

Public Works believe the current situation can be resolved without a further city wide water shutdown. The City remains under a boil water order for residents connected to the piped water service.

Water service to Iqaluit residents is expected to return this evening, with the exception of the Tammaativvik medical boarding home. When water service is returned, a precautionary boil water advisory will be in place for residents on piped water service.

There will be another temporary water shutdown tomorrow to connect Tammaativvik to the piped system. The City will announce the time of the temporary shutdown tomorrow.

City Wide Water Shutdown

The City advises Residents that at 4:00pm, there will be a City wide water shutdown. This shutdown is necessary to allow for water line repairs near the Astro Hill complex.
